The 'sanita' card is blank on the reverse and unsused.
This card is unused, divided back, British in origin. What is this area of sidings called?

It is a cecami card, No 203, posted in trieste 35l postmarked 1953.

The 3rd one is not Triest: buildings are too low.
For the first two I'm gonna find a plan to show you where they are (were)

That building was on Molo Sanità (public health), near the zone of an old "Lazzaretto" (the place where people had to stay in quarantine for a period, when coming from Countries in which there was some epidemic illness).

the third one reminds me of the little harbour of Grado.
There was a little building called sanità in front of the Stazione Marittima, but from my postcards it is slightly different-
the second one is a view from the hills down towards Barcola

but I think that your picture show an earlier building, called Casino di Sanità (casino means little house and not the place for gambling)

In this picture taken from the book "Trieste. Una città si mette in posa" by De Vecchi-Resciniti-Vidulli Torlo you can see it while the Hotel Excelsior is growing up.

and the location is the same.. the molo della Sanità is the molo where now there is the Stazione Marittima, in front of the Hotel Excelsior.
Do they destroy the first building and built a new one, or is it the same, modified in the years?

Some time ago Mario wrote that the building in the small picture was built by Giorgio Zaninovich in the 1910 and destroyed in the 1964.
The building of my picture is from the XIX century.

I have one or two postcards of Sanità building, and I wrote something about the different "Molo" in the port of Triest, when I made a postcards exhibition in the "Museo Postale e Telegrafico della Mitteleuropa" in Triest, but I've no time to search them today. I'm going to leave tomorrow for Ireland, and I'm still preparing my luggage.

Yes, it is. And the large rectangle on the right hand side of the map is the Hotel Excelsior building.

Nel 1893, quando si stavano completando i lavori dell’attuale Porto Vecchio, in una riunione commissariale veniva deliberato, tra l’altro, l’allargamento delle rive e la costruzione di un nuovo molo nei pressi del Casino della Sanità, per il notevole aumento dei traffici.
Nel 1905 iniziano i lavori per l’allargamento delle rive e l’ampliamento del molo Sanità: la fascia colorata in nocciola è quanto progettato per l’interramento. viene costruito tra il 1910 ed il 1912 l’albergo Excelsior sul sito occupato dagli edifici della Sanità e del Governo Marittimo, che vennero trasferiti sul molo della Lanterna e a Sant'Andrea.
Per controlare le navi che arrivavano dovettero costruire una casetta per il controllo dei passeggeri (opera di Giorgio Zaninovich del 1910).
Nel 1964 viene demolito l’edificio dell’Espositura Doganale ex Casino della Sanità Maritima, al suo posto ora si trova il giadinetto e la statua a Nazario Sauro opera di Tristano Alberti del 1966.

In pratica dove che xè la statua iera solo la caseta della dogana/sanità.

quindi saria proprio due edifici diversi.



Due to the increase of traffic in 1893 it was resolved the enlargement of the banks and construction of a new pier near the Casino of Health, started on 1905: the brown band is the new added area.

On the site occupied by buildings of Sanità e del Governo Marittimo was built between 1910 and 1912 the Excelsior Hotel. Sanità e del Governo Marittimo were transferred to the pier of St. Andrew and Lanterna.

The new larger building by Giorgio Zaninovich, dated 1910, was built to check passengers of vessels coming to town. It has been demolished in 1964 and actually there is a garden with the statue of Nazario Sauro by Tristan Alberti of 1966.
